About Us
Kyle Rutherford founded The Rooted Brain in 2025 to provide therapeutic services tailored to each client’s unique needs and life experiences. Through an attachment-based and trauma-informed lens, each client has the inherent potential for change through the healing power of human connection.
What is a "rooted brain"?
A "rooted brain" refers to the deep and lasting impact of early experiences, particularly those related to attachment and trauma, on how we think, feel, and behave throughout our lives. Much like the roots of a tree anchor it to the ground, our earliest interactions with caregivers—especially those involving safety, trust, and love—form the foundational neural pathways that shape our perceptions, emotional responses, and ways of relating to others and ourselves. When attachment needs are not met or when trauma occurs, these foundational pathways can become distorted, creating patterns of fear, distrust, emotional pain, or self-sabotage. However, just as a tree can grow and adapt over time, so too can the brain.
Deep Roots. Open Minds.
The Rooted Brain seeks to address and heal these wounds in a compassionate and supportive environment. By exploring the pervasive effects of trauma, the roots of their attachment, and the unique way their brains have adapted, clients can reframe their experiences and create new pathways for growth, healing, resilience, and connection.
